If you are looking for authentic South Indian Tamilnadu-style vegetarian cuisine, go with the most trusted brand. Hotel Saravana Bhavan has 33 locations in India and 78 outside India.

Loved by Indian expats across the globe, this location at Mississauga is super popular amongst the folks from Tamilnadu who are looking for a slice of home in GTA.

The key to their massive growth across the globe is their consistency in quality and this location follows the same.

What’s popular at Hotel Saravana Bhavan Mississauga?

  • If you are a dosa lover, you are in for a treat. They have over 40 varieties of dosas.
  • Their South Indian meals (thali) come in good portions, and buying one almost serves 2 if you are getting take-out.
  • Madras filter coffee.
  • Their weekend breakfast buffets were the absolute best. It was great until it lasted. They have stopped it now and I’m sure a lot of people are waiting for it to be back. More bang for your money.

2. Kerala Curry House

True to its name, Kerala curry house is the place to be for authentic Kerala dishes. Although it is a relatively new restaurant, it is getting a lot of attention in Mississauga.

The moment you step into the restaurant, you will feel the ‘Kerala’ vibe. The décor is a perfect blend of traditional and modern elements.

The dishes on the menu will definitely take you back in time as they have got all the authentic Kerala dishes in there.

What’s popular at Kerala Curry House, Mississauga?

  • Chatti soru : Delicious Kerala thali served in an earthen pot. This is quite the crowd favorite even during dinners.
  • Meen Polichadhu: Needs no introduction to Kerala folks. But for others, it is a traditional fish fry wrapped in a banana leaf with a mix of flavourful spices.
  • I personally love their chicken starters like Wayanadan Aadivasi Chicken, Thattukada Chicken dry, etc.

It’s time for Hyderabad to enter the game. Nawabs Indian Cuisine is a new kid on the block as it opened just in 2022 but it is already racking up a lot of great reviews.

The restaurant has a cool desi vibe, and the staff are very friendly as well. If you are lucky, you might even catch a live music performance while you dine here.

  • My personal favorite was ‘Chicken RRR’ – you read that right. Semi-gravy style spicy chicken. It was recommended by their staff, and I absolutely will go back again and order the same.
  • Hyderabad is known for its Biriyanis and Nawabs is known for their authentic Hyderabadi biriyanis.
  • We loved their ‘Mutton Kheema dosa’ when we dined there the last time.

This is a small and cozy South Indian restaurant that specializes in delicacies from Tamilnadu. Prices are reasonable and portions are decent.

What’s popular at South N’ Spicy?

  • Their Mysore masala dosa is highly rated. They have over 25 varieties of dosas.
  • My personal favorite at South N’ Spicy has always been their ‘Veggie kothu rotti’. Fresh parottas diced with traditional spices and loads of veggies.

Here’s one more restaurant repping Hyderabadi cuisine and true to their name, they specialize in Biriyanis.

What’s popular at Bawarchi Biriyanis?

  • ‘Vijayawada chicken boneless biriyani’ is hands down the best I’ve ever had. If you love spicy biriyani, this is exactly the one you are looking for.
  • Authentic chicken dishes like Karampodi Kodi, Karivepaku Chicken, and Guntur chicken are quite the favorites.

Ocean palate kerala cuisine is another Kerala restaurant that you should definitely check out if you are craving Malabar cuisine.

This is more popular for take-out, but they do have a great dining setup as well. When you enter the restaurant, you will be transported to the beautiful backwaters of Kerala.

  • They have the best Malabar parottas in town. For parties, we usually pick up Malabar parottas from here.
  • Thalasseri Biriyani is really good here as well.
  • They are also a popular spot for picking up quick snacks and desserts.

Annalakshmi is one of my recent favorites for delicious Tamilnadu cuisine. Easily one of the most affordable south indian restaurant in Mississauga.

Just like Saravana Bhavan, this is pure vegetarian as well. They have an extensive menu and if you are looking to try multiple south indian dishes, this is the best place to go as it’s pocket friendly and absolutely delicious.

What’s popular at Annalakshmi Mississauga?

  • They have over 60 varieties of dosas to order from. The accompaniments like Sambar and three types of chutneys are really good.
  • They have mini tiffins and tiffin combos that allows you to try multiple items at once.
  • Their Rava dosas and mini sambar idlies are my favorites here.
